Cabinet Parts, Measurements and Fit

Seattle remodeling service photo

Cabinet work comes in three lanes, and they should not be priced as if they are the same:

  • Install only - the cabinets are selected, delivered and counted, and the room just needs them set.
  • Supplier package - drawings, boxes, fillers, panels, trim and delivery all need coordinating.
  • Custom work - field measurements, shop time, finish details and odd sizes are part of the build.

Cabinet installation in Seattle is simple when the package is complete. It gets slow when a filler is missing, the toe kick is wrong, a side panel was never ordered, or the fridge opening ends up too tight.

Setting day is only one step. The boxes still have to be leveled, anchored and left ready for the countertop template, with the sink, faucet, cooktop, hood and dishwasher specs confirmed first.

So the scope should answer the boring questions up front: who supplies the boxes, who checks the count, who covers delivery damage, and when the room is actually ready for counters.

Seattle Cabinet Cost and Installation Guide

A real Renova Contractors LLC example shows why cabinet pricing has to separate allowance, labor and material. On an insurance-style cabinet replacement, the allowance was $937.86, installation labor was $360, and that left $577.86 as the material budget for the matching replacement cabinet.

The general planning bands, not a set price:

  • small vanity or focused cabinet install: about $1,500 to $4,000+
  • cabinet repair or replacement: about $1,000 to $3,500+ once matching, pickup, delivery, trim and panels are in
  • full kitchen cabinet installation labor: about $5,000 to $9,000+
  • cabinet package plus installation: about $15,000 to $25,000+
  • full custom cabinets: above $25,000 with drawings, shop time, built-ins and appliance panels

From there the number moves with field measurements, the cabinet line, finish, hardware, delivery, missing parts, homeowner-supplied material, appliance specs and countertop coordination. A complete-parts install is a different job than a kitchen full of panels, fillers, organizers and custom pieces.

A useful cabinet quote shows what is included, what is an allowance, what is owner-supplied, and what still needs confirming, instead of hiding demo, prep, panels and countertop scheduling inside one line.

I worked with Nick and Alex (their architect) on an investment property I'm remodeling in Ballard. They were able to pull all necessary permits, source materials with a great discount, deliver everything and do the actual work. We turned the kitchen into an "open concept" so we had to remove one of the load bearing walls. Alex and his engineer drew all the required plans and calculated the beam size for that. Nick and Mike installed cabinets, flooring and their crew installed countertops. Very good work quality and materials they helped me source. Will use them next time 👍🏽

we had renova remodel our basement a few months back. it started as just fixing a leaking wall but ended up redoing the whole space and glad we did tbh. they put in drywall, a small bar area, shelves in the closets (super clean cuts), even moved the washer + dryer without drama. nick and mike were solid guys, always answered texts, not that salesy bs. prices were fair and they gave actual contractor pricing on some stuff, like tile, cabinets, flooring and closet stuff. didn’t skimp on materials either which i respect. overall solid experience. few hiccups but nothing sketchy. would use again.

Nick and his team had our old kitchen ripped out, and the new cabinets installed in less than 4 days. Then, in just a couple days, the new quartz countertops were in. As soon as the demo was done, the cabinets were up—no waiting around for days or weeks. We really can’t say enough about their speed and craftsmanship. Very professional! We’d definitely do it again. And we’ll for sure be calling Nick when it's time to remodel the bathroom. Thanks again, Nick! We really appreciate you and your team.

I reached out to RENOVA to see if my 20-year-old kitchen cabinets could be updated. Unfortunately, they were beyond saving, so I ended up going with new ones—and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out! Mike and Dmitriy were amazing throughout the process. They patiently answered all the questions my husband and I had and made the whole experience stress-free. The team worked fast but didn’t cut corners, making sure every detail was done right. My house is old, and the walls and floors aren’t exactly even, but they made everything look flawless. I’m so impressed with their work and so thankful for my beautiful new kitchen. Thank you, RENOVA!

We decided to renovate our kitchen. Michael and Dmitriy gave as the best quote. They demolished the old kitchen and built a new one from the ceiling to the floor. They did an excellent job and finished ahead of schedule. We are so happy that we found them! Renova is a great reliable company. Would highly recommend!

I had a positive experience working with the Renova team for a kitchen restoration project requiring drywall replacement work, resetting cabinetry, counter top setting, sink and dishwasher placement / connection, tile and finishing. They delivered quickly and effectively on a kitchen restoration which included kitchen cabinet installation of existing cabinets which were present onsite and temporarily removed. The team communicates consistently, and follows through on their word. I would trust them to work on future projects.

What do cabinets cost in Seattle?

Cabinet cost in Seattle depends on whether the scope is installation only, cabinet supply and install, custom cabinet making, or a small repair/replacement. A small insurance-style cabinet replacement Renova Contractors LLC handled had a $937.86 cabinet replacement allowance and $360 installation labor, leaving $577.86 for matching cabinet material. Larger kitchen projects can range from several thousand dollars for labor-only install to $15,000-$60,000+ for cabinet package plus installation.

Cabinet installation is the labor to set, level, anchor and adjust cabinets. Cabinet supply is the cabinet package itself, including boxes, doors, panels, fillers, toe kick, trim, hardware, delivery and missing-part coordination.

The countertop template usually happens after cabinets are installed, level and ready for the countertop vendor. Sink, faucet, cooktop, hood and appliance specs should be confirmed before that visit.

Cabinet Supply, Custom Cabinet Making and Installation Details That Should Be Clear Before Work Starts

Cabinet supply vs cabinet installation

Cabinet installation is the labor to set, level, anchor and adjust the cabinets. Cabinet supply is the cabinet package itself: boxes, doors, panels, fillers, toe kick, trim, hardware and delivery. A cabinet supply and install scope should make both sides clear.

Finish materials are often separate from the construction total. Countertop slabs, fabrication, sink, faucet, disposal, appliances, backsplash tile and specialty hardware may need their own line or allowance. If the cabinet package is owner-supplied, the quote should say who checks quantities, who handles delivery damage and who tracks missing parts.

Custom cabinets vs supplier cabinet packages

Custom cabinets make sense when the layout, dimensions, storage needs or finish details cannot be solved cleanly with standard cabinet lines. Renova Contractors LLC can build custom cabinets, built-ins, bathroom vanities, special trim pieces, filler conditions and storage details when the scope calls for custom cabinet making.

Not every kitchen needs full custom work. A supplier cabinet package can be the better value when standard sizes solve most of the layout and custom fillers, panels, toe kick or trim finish the gaps. Some clients visit showrooms and send links. Others ask Renova Contractors LLC to help coordinate the appointment and review the rendering before ordering.

Parts that hold up cabinet jobs

Small cabinet parts can hold up the next step. Side panels, filler pieces, panels underneath or beside cabinets, long base trim, toe kick, hardware, support pieces and delivery timing should be tracked before the job is treated as finished.

Renova Contractors LLC uses material tracking on cabinet-heavy remodels so product links, model numbers, quantities, pricing, order status and delivery notes stay in one place. That helps installers, electricians and plumbers review appliance links and specs without asking again during rough-in.

Countertop templating and appliance specs

The countertop template usually happens after cabinets are installed, level and ready for the countertop vendor. Sink, faucet, cooktop, hood, disposal, appliance openings and slab direction should be confirmed early because they affect cutouts and fabrication.

Cabinets also affect plumbing, electrical, backsplash, flooring and closeout. If the cabinet install is delayed by missing fillers or panels, the template appointment can move too.

Oven cabinets, support and responsibility

Appliance cabinets need special attention. A microwave, speed oven, wall oven or double oven can create support questions that do not apply to a normal base cabinet. The cabinet vendor, cabinet maker and installer should review appliance specifications before the appliance goes in.

Renova Contractors LLC project emails around a GoldenHome oven cabinet showed why this matters. The discussion covered appliance weight, fixed bottom panels, support cleats, possible vertical support, front support, warranty responsibility and installation scope. Support and liability should not be vague. Heavy appliance cabinets should have the appliance specs, support method and responsibility written down before the final walkthrough.

Comparing cabinet installers and cabinet makers in Seattle

When comparing cabinet installers Seattle homeowners hire, or cabinet makers Seattle homeowners are considering for custom work, do not only ask for the final price. Ask whether the quote separates cabinet material from labor, whether owner-supplied responsibility is clear, whether countertop work is coordinated, and whether panels, fillers, toe kick, hardware, delivery and closeout are included.

A cheaper quote may be missing demo, prep, material handling, finish details, plumbing or electrical coordination, delivery timing, appliance support, countertop coordination or final adjustments. Renova Contractors LLC tries to clarify scope, allowances, payment terms, change orders, responsibilities and warranty before work begins.
